Coming to America
October 8, 1964. This picture is of Ester (age 24) and her husband Edward on the ship after a two week journey immigrating from Israel to America. If you look closely there is a fuzzy image in the background. It's the Statue of Liberty.
Ester and Edward were greeted by welcomers at Ellis Island. They had never met the group before but they were friends of friends who helped arranged the trip to America.
Edward and Ester found a garden apartment at 412 East 78th Street in Manhattan to make home. [insert pic]
